Welcome to Ex Hotel Metropole - CLOSED PERMANENTLY

Ex Hotel Metropole, once a cherished landmark nestled in the heart of Bellagio, Italy, held a special place for travelers seeking both history and charm on the shores of Lake Como. Though now permanently closed, its legacy lingers in the stories and memories of its guests.

Situated at Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini, this 19th-century hotel was a gateway to the breathtaking vistas of the port and the surrounding alpine scenery. Guests praised its prime location, offering direct views that enlivened every meal and morning coffee. The hotel's restaurant was often praised for its quality cuisine, where simple dishes like lasagna and tiramisu were elevated by skillful preparation and authentic flavors. One visitor described their dinner experience as one of the best in Lake Como, enhanced by a stunning sunset over the water.

The staff at Ex Hotel Metropole were noted for their warmth and attentiveness. From the front desk to service areas, guests felt welcomed and cared for throughout their stay. Personal touches, such as helpful assistance with local bookings and thoughtful greetings, underscored the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.

Rooms were modest in size but maintained with care and cleanliness, reflecting the practical needs of travelers who spent most of their days exploring Bellagio’s vibrant streets and nearby cultural sites like Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello. Amenities included free Wi-Fi, breakfast with views of the vibrant port, and conveniences such as parking and airport shuttles.

While the hotel lacked certain modern luxuries, like a fitness center and pool, its charm was rooted in authentic experience and location. The on-site bar and restaurant offered quality cocktails, particularly noted was the mojito passion fruit, and wood-fired pizzas that matched the scenic charm.

Reflecting on Ex Hotel Metropole evokes a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time when elegance met genuine hospitality. Its permanent closure marks the end of an era in Bellagio’s hospitality scene, but for those who experienced it, the memory of its warmth and character remains vivid—a reminder that true beauty in travel often lies beyond lavish amenities, found instead in atmosphere, people, and place.

This review is about the restaurant, not the hotel. We had just arrived in Bellagio and we stopped there to have some drinks and pizza. What an amazing experience! The cocktails (mojito passion fruit) were some of the best we have ever tasted. The price was low considering the quality. The pizza was also great. Good quality ingredients and really tasty. All the above while enjoying the breath taking view of lake Como. Definitely one of the best experiences I have ever had.

Front desk more than welcoming. Side twin room very small but clean. Not important since time spent sightseeing. First encounter at outside terrace for afternoon cocktail was confusing. Shown table but another waiter embarrassed us by wanting us to move. Another waiter came and confirmed we could sit. Additional visits we were greeted with welcome back and service cocktails and food good. Beautiful setting. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choices. Pancakes not edible. Moved on 3rd morning to full lake view with balcony was spectacular. Definitely would return in future. They found my sweater and night security retrieved for me. Happy stay

We came for dinner and it was wonderful! It was one of the best dinners in Lake Como that we have had. The lasagna was fluffy and melted in your mouth, and the Tiramisu was incredible! The view is absolutely gorgeous. We arrived for dinner a little before 7pm and watched the sunset over the water. Great experience all around.

The location is great since it’s situated at the center of Bellagio, view directly to the port. The staffs at reception are helpful. They can help you with any issues, also help you booking restaurants. What is good for breakfast is the scenery of the port, and the service from Frank, the one we see every morning. He’s helpful and manage everything for all guests. The room is quite comfortable. We have all we need for a stay. Especially we have a big terrace to the port. Recommend.
